Welcome
Welcome
to the Alhambra Primary school website. Alhambra Primary educates
student from Early Childhood/PreK through second grade in the Highland
School District.
Alhambra Primary serves the communities of Alhambra, Grantfork and New Douglas.
We have many features at our school that makes it a great place to learn about
academics, our environment and each other. Our school has a half-day Early
Childhood Program, full-day Pre-K Program and two sections of Kindergarten,
First Grade and Second Grade. We are currently at 138 students EC/PreK through
2nd grade. Additional features that we have in our building include a media
center, computer lab, Guided Reading Room, Cafe'/Multipurpose Room, and an
outdoor Children's Garden. We also have a latchkey or T.A.K Program before
and after school for students in the three surrounding communities.
Another way we have found to enrich students' experiences at Alhambra Primary has been through after school camps and Spanish Enrichment programs that are held after school throughout the school year. The camps range from academics to athletics and the arts.
Students
benefit greatly from the experienced, knowledgeable, and caring staff who
work cooperatively to create an atmosphere and climate that is welcoming,
safe and
conducive to learning. In addition to the rich academic program offered by
the regular classroom teachers, students benefit from the offerings of the
professional support staff that provide instruction in music, art, and physical
education. Other staff includes a speech therapist, nurse, instructional
assistants, media center specialist as well as a resource teacher.
The majority of staff
members hold a masters degree in Education and two teachers have earned their
National Board Certification.
The education
of each child is enhanced through the major contributions offered
by the active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
Volunteers or P.I.L.L.A.R.S.
that work in our building on a regular basis offer additional assistance
and guidance to our students so they may achieve higher success and
have a well-rounded
educational program.
At Alhambra
Primary School, the V.I.P. Principals and 1-2-3 Magic are stressed
throughout the school year as part of our character education
program and school
wide behavior program.
We invite
the entire school community to be a part of the educational process
for each and every child attending Alhambra
Primary so we may all grow together.
