"The mission of Highland High School is to
pursue excellence in the development of responsible life-long learners
by working with the entire community to provide optimum educational
experiences in a safe learning environment with opportunities for
growth."
To Our Parents and Students,
Many guidance services are made available to the students
and their parents. These services are designed to meet the student's
needs and to provide him or her with the necessary information to
make decisions in high school.
Students have an opportunity to become acquainted
with counselors during the registration process which begins in
February of 8th grade year. Students are helped to select courses
for high school. This registration process continues throughout
high school with students and parents being kept up to date on credits
and what is necessary in the future to satisfy graduation requirements
and meet post secondary plans.
Highland High counselors are trained and experienced
in helping students with critical issues facing adolescents, academic
guidance and career counseling.
The purpose of this web site is to help you choose
the right courses to give you the strongest preparation possible
for the program you want to enter after high school. It is meant
to be a guide for planning and should not take the place of regular
discussions with your counselor.
Almost 90% of Highland High students further their
education after graduation. The other 10% enter the military and
the job market. Whether your goal is to further your education or
to get a job, this web site can help you be prepared.
The creation of this web site was funded through a
grant from the Illinois State Board of Education's Education to
Careers program(http://www.isbe.state.il.us/etc/).
Sincerely,
