Welcome to Highland High School! My name is Derek Hacke and I am pleased to serve as principal at one of the finest high schools in the Southwestern Illinois region. The student-centered faculty, staff, and administration at HHS provide an outstanding educational experience for our young people. We currently boast nine National Board Certified Teachers and over 40 faculty members who have attained a Masters or above.
We offer a diverse curriculum within an alternating block schedule that allows our students the flexibility to pursue their personal educational goals and develop individual skills. We partner with Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, Illinois, to offer 12 dual credit courses. The Dual Credit program, in addition to our schedule of 13 Advanced Placement courses, allows many of our graduates to begin their post-secondary experience with valuable college credits. We offer a diversity of IHSA athletic activities, over 30 clubs and organizations, and an exceptional fine arts department that collectively aid in the development of the complete individual.
We hope that this web site provides timely and useful information for our students and families. It is our sincere goal to maintain open lines of communication between HHS and our community.
