| General Mills Box Tops | |
| Fund
Raiser |
The PTO continues to participate in the General Mills "Box Tops for Education" Program. This has proven to be a very simple, but profitable fundraiser. Each year that we have participated, our totals have increased. In the 2006-07 school year, we profited $1,907.28 from this fundraiser.
Simply clip the "Box Tops for Education" logo only and turn them into the office. We save them year-round, and send them into the company twice a year. Each box top is worth 10 cents. It doesn't sound like much, but they do add up! Also, ask friends, neighbors, and relatives to help by saving box tops for us.
And, remember the box tops aren't just found on boxes. They are also found on Pillsbury refrigerated rolls and biscuits, Yoplait multi-pack yogurt and Go-Gurt, Old El Paso products, Green Giant frozen vegetables, Pillsbury frozen breakfast items, Totino's frozen items, Gold Medal Flour, Bisquick products and many more!
Highland Primary and Highland Elementary will participate in a Box Tops contest to be held in the fall of 2007 and again in the spring of 2008. Watch your PTO newsletter for details.

Collecting and redeeming Campbell Soup UPC codes is an excellent way for our school to acquire valuable educational tools, such as books and teaching aids. Each school (Highland Primary & Highland Elementary) keeps a running total and are able to order office or school classroom supplies, free.
Simply cut the UPC code only (not front label) on eligible brands, (including Campbell's, Franco American, Pace, Pepperidge Farm, Prego, Swanson and V8), and send them to school. Remember to tell all your friends, neighbors, and family members to save them also.

Market Day is a monthly food program fundraiser which offers a variety of food products including breakfast, snacks, bakery, meats, seafood, dairy and more. Market Day profits go towards the PTO grant program to fund grant requests from teachers for educational classroom needs that are not covered by building activity funds or other funds. The 2006-07 school year we made a profit of $4,321.81.
Order forms are distributed to your child each month. You complete the form and return it to your child's teacher. The Market Day committee processes the forms and sends you a note reminding you when your order needs to be picked up. You can now order on-line. Go to the Market Day web site (listed below) and place your order. You will even receive a reminder via e-mail to pick up your products. You may pay for the products when you pick them up, or prepay if you order on-line and avoid the lines!!! It's that simple!

Abitibi Newspaper and Magazine Recycling Program
Fund Raiser
The Abitibi Recycling Program is a very successful fundraiser for the PTO. We earned $2,147.24 from this program during the 2006-07 school year. That's a lot of money for unwanted magazines, shopping catalogs, newspapers, office papers, school papers, and mail! We would like to continue increasing our earnings.
To contribute to this fundraiser, simply take those items to one of the green and yellow bins (called Abitibi Paper Retriever) located at the Lindenthal campus (grades K thru 6), the Middle School and also the High School. This is a great and easy way to help raise money for the PTO!

PTO Special Events
PTO Grant/Finance Committee
The PTO Grant Committee typically funds requests totaling approximately $5,000 annually. Grants are awarded twice during the school year. The committee's mission is to help fund educational resources that will directly enhance the quality of education for our children. The grants were awarded for academic resource materials requested by teachers from the Primary, Middle School and Highland High School. The Grant Committee receives request from teachers for educational classroom needs that aren't covered by building activity funds or other funds. This allows teachers to ask for specific needs that they have throughout the year. The funding for the committee comes from Market Day Food profits and any shortage is covered by the PTO fund. Disbursements are made twice a year, typically October and February. Application forms are available in school offices.
