On Monday night at the School Board Meeting, it was discussed and approved that 3rd Grade will be moving to Grantfork Elementary next year.
This means if you have a 2nd grader this year, they will attend Grantfork next year for 3rd Grade.
The teaching staff and support staff will be remaining the same. Mr. Sauls and Ms. Grigg will still be teaching 3rd Grade. Mr. Polett is still going to teach Music. Mrs. Warnecke will still be your PE Teacher. If Mrs. Patrick is your speech teacher, she will still be. Really, the
only thing that is changing is the “location” of 3rd Grade to Grantfork.
Moving to Grantfork has been discussed for many years. In the last year, the district has been looking at schedules and exploring benefits of making this move happen.
Grantfork was approved recently for an update to the bathrooms and a new HVAC system. To accommodate for the extra grade, we have a new larger convection oven and freezer for the cafeteria. We also have new lunch tables. So the building will have some nice new updates!
There are many reasons this move will be beneficial to our Center School students. Some of these reasons include:
-- Grade Alignment with Illinois State Learning Standards and Illinois State Testing
-- Graded Report Cards
-- Same Language Arts Curriculum for 3rd through 5th Grade
-- Equalizing Student Population between the 2 buildings. We currently have 64 students at Grantfork and 157 students at Alhambra. With this 3rd Grade move, the student population will be more balanced with 105 at Grantfork and approximately 125 at Alhambra.
If you have further questions please call or email me.
I think this move is going to bring positive change for the Center Schools Family!
Thanks again!
