The Community Survey on Walking and Biking Trails is now open!
The City of Highland is developing a Sidewalks and Trails Master Plan. They want to make our city a more walkable community, and with over 7 miles of bike trails, Highland is home to more city owned bike trails than any other city in the Metro East, and we'd like to know how you think we should expand on this community asset.
Please take a moment to complete this survey and share your thoughts and priorities.

Highland CUSD 5: Highland CUSD No. 5 Parents and Staff,
Due to the timing of the winter storm advisory in effect for tomorrow morning and throughout the day, Highland CUSD No. 5 will not be in session tomorrow, Friday, January 10. It was a challenging week with weather and the opening of a new school, but we knew what we had after the previous winter storm. The forecast presents an unknown for tomorrow and we will be cautious given the circumstances. I feel it is important to make the call as early as possible to allow parents to make arrangements if necessary. Enjoy your weekend and hope to have a 5-day week next week!
Educationally Yours,
Michael S. Sutton, Superintendent

Good Afternoon, Highland CUSD #5 Students and Families,
We are excited to welcome back students and staff on Wednesday, January 8, for the start of semester II. Highland teachers and staff participated in a Teacher Institute on Tuesday, and we fully expect to be in session on Wednesday morning. Currently, school parking lots and walkways are primarily clear across the district thanks to the efforts of our facilities team. Colder temperatures are expected tonight, and refreezing may present some slick areas tomorrow morning. Please use caution when walking, driving to school, and navigating our parking lots. Finally, the updated Highland CUSD #5 School Schedule begins tomorrow, so please plan accordingly regarding these changes.

Dress warmly, travel safely, and have a great start to the semester. We appreciate your continued support of Highland CUSD #5.
Educationally Yours,
Dr. Chris A. Becker

Greetings, Highland CUSD No. 5 Parents and Staff, I want to be definitive on the schedule for this week, but what I can communicate at this time without hesitation is that the Teacher's Institute scheduled for today was canceled and is scheduled for tomorrow (January 7, 2025). This means that the students will return to school on Wednesday, January 8. Our facilities team is hard at work to clear drives and walkways for tomorrow (Teacher's Institute). We anticipate some refreezing so please be careful to and from school and around the buildings and parking lots. Good luck digging out today and be careful!

It may be a great surprise, but the Teacher's Institute for tomorrow, Monday, January 6, will be postponed to Tuesday, January 7. Unless further notified, students will return to school on Wednesday, January 8th. Thanks, and enjoy the snow!
