Highland CUSD # 5 Students, Faculty, and Families,
It is with a heavy heart I share with our community that Highland High School lost a member of our school family this weekend. Todd Reiss, a sophomore, passed away at his home on Saturday morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with Todd’s family during this difficult time.
To honor Todd, we are asking students and staff to wear blue to school on Monday, April 11 to celebrate his life. Todd was also a huge Rams football fan and the family requested students wear Rams jerseys or shirts on Monday. A Drive-By Parade to celebrate Todd was already scheduled for Sunday, April 10th at 2:00 PM and is still on as the family expressed that is what Todd would want. Please meet near the Highland Elementary School/Four Diamonds area to line up by 1:45 PM if you plan to participate. The parade will travel down Lindenthal and onto Poplar Street.
Highland CUSD #5 school counselors, psychologists, and social workers will be available at the high school on Monday, April 11 for students and staff needing support. Additionally, the Highland Area Ministerial Alliance (HAMA) will be contacted for counseling services. The library will be opened as a safe place for students or teachers to talk with professionals.
Coping with the loss of a student is difficult and our school community is going through a grieving process at this time. If you have a child who is struggling with these recent events, please let us know so we can offer assistance.

Boys tennis won both of their matches today in their draw of the Edwardsville Invite! After a tough test against Hersey Hs #2 team yesterday, they defeated Sacred Heart-Griffin 6-3 and then Herrin 6-0. Lots of good tennis today by everyone! ❤️🐾🖤
