College Board plans to offer 45-minute AP exams that can be taken online at home. "To be fair to all students ... the exam will only include topics and skills most AP teachers and students have already covered in class by early March." https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap/news-changes/coronavirus-update

Good Afternoon HHS Families, Faculty and Staff, I hope you’re doing the best you can with family and friends this weekend. Recent events have been hard on all of us and it’s difficult, if not impossible, to understand and accept the current reality. And that’s perfectly okay right now. The video link below, shared by a parent, depicts how many of us currently feel, especially our students. I encourage you to take a moment to view as a family or by yourself if you are able. https://youtu.be/2OjjWh-8Iv0 We know there is no right or wrong way to feel at this time as we are all handling this in different ways, the best we can. Finally, be patient with each, be strong and courageous, and stay rooted in love. Sincerely, Dr. Chris A. Becker

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE from the Highland Police Department • In an effort to prevent social transmissions, effective today March 19, 2020, the City has imposed curfews on the City Parks from sunset to sunrise. Additionally, we ask parents of teenagers to support this action. • In response to the Governor’s order suspending certain provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the City of Highland has implemented a procedure to allow citizens to call in and monitor meetings by phone by calling 618-882-5625 and when prompted, enter a conference ID # 422312. This allows audio only and does not allow for public comments. Public comments can be submitted to lhediger@highlandil.gov or by using the citizens’ portal on the city’s website found here: https://www.highlandil.gov/citizen_request_center_app/index.php. Any comments received prior to the end of the “Public Forum” portion of the meeting, will be read into the record. • A Facebook message was circulated that Madison County was under a “lock down”. It comes from a Madison County, Indiana Emergency Management Facebook page. This was verified with Madison County, Illinois EMA Assistant Director Mary Kate Brown. Please be mindful of social media posts you are sharing. Verify they are accurate and from reputable sources. • The State of Illinois has opened the following COVID-19 Coronavirus specific website that compiles all State Response information:https://www2.illinois.gov/sites/coronavirus/Pages/default.aspx Thank you to all our citizens of Highland for how responsible you have been in your actions and for the numerous acts of kindness we have seen over the last few days as we go through this together.
