
Lady Bulldog Softball fell to Effingham in regional play 13-6 on Tuesday.
Abby Schultz went 4/4 with 3 RBI as she doubled in the first, singled twice, and hit a solo HR in the seventh.
Highland opened the scoring in the first with back to back doubles by Lucy Becker and Abby Schultz, but trailed most of the day.
The Bulldogs added 4 runs in the fifth cutting the lead to 11-5, but it wasn't enough. Kaitlyn Wilson did her best, but took the loss for Highland striking out seven and walking one on the day.
Highland totaled 11 hits on the day with Lucy Becker 2B 1B, and RBI, Bailey Mettler 2B, Taylor Newingham 1B, and Anna Fey 1B. Alex Schultz and Kaitlyn Wilson both added RBI singles on the day.
Thanks to our seniors Abby Schultz, Alex Schultz, Madison Hunter, Anna Fey, Elaina Tompkins, and Bailey Mettler for their contributions to the program over the years.
The Lady Bulldogs finished 13-12 on the season and 7-3 in the MVC.


On Monday, @ChaseKnebel, Alex Howard, and @braxdon_d held Belleville East scoreless in a 10-0 win today. @TreyKoishor with 3 hits and an RBI and @GarrinStone had 2 hits and 3 RBIs in the win. Highland moves 27-6-1 on the season.

Congratulations to this year's salutatorian, Madison Hunter! Madison is graduating with a 5.36 GPA. She is the daughter of Douglas and Elizabeth Hunter of Highland. Next year, she will attend Truman State University, where she will major in Forensic Investigation, with minors in Forensic Science, Chemistry, and Spanish and a micro-credential in Forensic Accounting.

Congratulations to HHS co-valedictorian, Naomi Saathoff! Naomi is graduating with a 5.39 GPA. She is the daughter of Joe and Yuka Saathoff of Highland. Next year, she will attend the University of Illinois, where she will major in History and Music Education.


Congratulations to HHS co-valedictorian, Taylor Dressler! Taylor is graduating with a 5.39 GPA. She is the daughter of Scott and Jamie Dressler of Grantfork. Next year, she will attend McKendree University, where she will major in Music Education with a vocal emphasis.

Wednesday was Senior Night at Glik Park for the HHS Baseball Team. Congrats on your accomplishments.


On Wednesday, the Bulldogs lost a 2 run lead in the top of the 7th in a tough 5-4 loss today against O'Fallon. @ChaseKnebel led the Highland offense with a hit and 2 RBIs. @OttensmeierJake, @TreyKoishor, and @GarrinStone each had a hit in the loss.


Lady Bulldog Sofball beat Jerseyville 10-0 on Wednesday with Kaitlyn Wilson pitching 6 innings giving up 2 hits, 4Ks, and 0 walks.
Gracie Nikonovich singled down the right field line for her first varsity hit driving in 2 runs to end the game in the bottom of the 6th inning.
Highland cranked out 12 hits as Bailey Mettler, Jordan Bircher, Alex Schultz, and Lucy Becker each slugged 2 hits each on the day.
Other hits for the Bulldogs included Anna Fey 1B, Kaitlyn Wilson 2B, and Abby Schultz 1B. Becker, Wilson, Bircher, Fey, and Hailey Ritz all had RBIs. Bircher stole 3 bases.
Highland finished the regular season 13-11 overall and 7-3 in the MVC. They will host Effingham on Tuesday, May 21 to begin regional play in Highland at 4:30 PM.
