Teachers shared Engaged Learning plans with students today. Please contact the office at 618-654-7131 if you need assistance or have your student email their teacher with questions or concerns. We will do our best to assist and also provide periodic updates from the office.
Finally, we appreciate your continued patience, support, and ability to make the best of things during this challenging time for our school, our community, and our nation. Most importantly, please tell your kids and family you love them, you care for them, and that we will all get though this. Together.
Sincerely,
Dr. Chris A. Becker

Please be patient with Highland CUSD 5 teachers and staff as we navigate the engaged learning and distance learning days while school is closed. Teachers, admin, and school staff have been working around the clock to prepare learning opportunities for students in our community. Please thank them for their efforts. If you communicate with them and have questions, please use kindness, empathy, and compassion. As a community, we will do the best we can.

There will be no 6th Hour FTT on Monday, March 16th.
Due to the impending school closure, the high school and middle school parking lots will be barricaded per the direction of the Highland Police Department and Highland CUSD 5. Staring Monday, March 16th at 4:00 PM both parking lots will be closed for the duration of the school closure. All district facilities will be closed as well.

Monday will be a normal attendance day at HHS. Students should bring books and materials as normal. (Some teachers may have already indicated some items are not needed for Monday)
Students should take home all materials at the end of the day Monday that are needed to be engaged during the closure. Teachers will review with students at school on Monday regarding distance learning when school is closed.
We are developing plans for a number of situations during the mandatory school closure. Please expect multiple communications over the next few days. We are creating a plan to keep kids engaged to the best of our ability given the circumstances.
ALL ATHLETES AND COACHES:
From the IHSA. If you temporarily suspend your spring season, your athletes should not practice or compete with their non-school (club/travel) teams or they will be ineligible for the high school team if and when the suspension is lifted.
Good Evening,
With the recent announcement of school closures, HHS will be cancelling all athletics, extra curriculars, and facility use by outside organizations starting tonight, March 13, 2020 - March 30, 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience.
