23 students from HCUSD5 attended the 50th annual Cebrin Goodwin Teen Institute. CGTI is a youth leadership training program that promotes positive change, healthy decision-making, and leadership development. Each day at camp students spent their time attending keynote speakers, workshops, round robbins, discussion groups, action team planning, and fun activities. This year there were over 400 students attending from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ireland.
Highland received the Action Team of the Year Award.
The CGTI Action Team of the Year Award is presented to an action team that has gone above and beyond in their group efforts to create an impact in their community before and during their time at CGTI. This group has shown commitment to each other and to implementing a successful action plan that will be a catalyst for positive change.

Congratulations to the HMS cheer team and Coach Kantner for being selected the Best Cheer Team at the Xperience Chicago cheer camp and congrats to Haley Hipskind for being selected Best Dancer at the camp. Way to go ladies!
