On Friday, we recognized these Positive Pups for showing their PRIDE! Each of them was nominated by a teacher for reasons such as consistently participating in class, including others, demonstrating grit and determination, and bringing positivity to the classroom. Keep up the great work!



A big thank you to our Mayor and the City of Highland for recognizing our Dance Team's State Championship in Jazz with a road sign in their honor!

The girls track team had a great day at the Alton Invitational placing third. The relay team of Carley Lindsey, Cathy Thomas, Audrey Thomas and Chloe Lindsey ran a school record plus 1st place in the 4 x 200 relay with a time of 1:52.99. Retta Frey broke the 6th grade record for the 800 meter by running a 2:40.7. Way to go!

The Bulldog soccer teams had a good night beating Edwardsville Liberty 6-0 in the varsity game and 5-1 in the jv game. Leading the way in the varsity game was Lillyan Schaefer with a hat trick scoring three goals, Mason Kukendall with a goal and assist, Braxton Box with a goal and Evan Alexander with a goal. Andrew Canterbeery had 2 assists while Olver Knackstedt, Easton Robertson and Beckett Spalding each had an assist. Matt Hoepfner got the win in goal In the jv contest Beckett Spalding and Chase Spilker each had two goals and Riley Chilton had a goal. Braxton Box had two assists while Calin Mannle and Eva Schnell each had an assist. Way to go!

Students on 8Black built roller coaster models to learn more about kinetic and potential energy in science class today.

You're invited to an HMS Parent Night! On May 1st, please join us at 6:00 PM for an introduction to Highland Middle School, followed by guided tours of the building. Good luck to the HMS soccer team as they play Edwardsville Liberty at home today at 3:15pm. Go Dawgs!

The boys track team had a solid day at the Alton Invitational. Numerous 6th grade records were broken. Alex Reckmann broke the 400 by running a 1:02.85, 800 by running a 2:26.43 and the mile record with a time of 5:25.57. Carter Fisher broke the 200 record by running a 27.69. The 4 x 400 relay team of Ezekiel Wagner, Jace Niermann, Carter Fisher and Alex Reckmann ran a 4:34.18 which is also a record. Reckmann placed 5th in the 800 while Elden Lange placed 8th in the high jump. Way to go!

The HMS soccer team varsity lost a tough one to Granite City today 3-1. Oliver Knackstedt scored on an assist from Lillyan Schaefer. The Bulldogs won the jv game 5-1 behind four goals from Easton Robertson and a goal from Braxton Box. Beckett Spalding had two assists and Box & Robertson also had an assist. Sophie Richter got the win in goal. Way to go!
