Good afternoon HMS Families,
Welcome to the cold and flu season!
This is a reminder that students with the following symptoms that present to the nurse will be sent home: Fever (100.4°F or higher), new onset of moderate to severe headache, shortness of breath, new cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, the new loss of sense of taste or smell, fatigue from an unknown cause, muscle or body aches from an unknown cause.
I just wanted to let you know that not only are we seeing COVID cases on the rise among children but we have also started to see cases of Influenza and strep throat. Please keep this in mind when wondering about sending your child to school. If your child experiences any of the above symptoms please do not send them to school.
To return to school students will require one of the following: A note from a medical provider with an alternative diagnosis, a negative COVID test, or a 10-day absence beginning the first day of symptoms (if no MD visit or testing is done). Children’s symptoms must also be improving prior to returning to school.
If you have any questions or concerns about symptoms or testing locations, you can reach me through my direct line at 618-651-8800 ext.3206
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Christmas and Holiday Season!
Sincerely,
Monica Martin RN, BSN,PEL-CSN, M.Ed
