Mrs. Heather Athmer, our amazing 8 Red American History teacher, has been teaching for over 20 years. She loves to spend time with her family outdoors. According to Mrs. Athmer, there is nothing better than a fall camping trip, side by side ride, or a trip to our hunting ground. She also loves watching her children do what they love, play softball, and shoot trap. Mrs. Athmer also loves to scrapbook, go shopping, spend time with friends, play games with her family, or watch a good movie. Her favorite candy is Reese's and her favorite food would have to be anything Mexican. One thing you may not know about Mrs. Athmer is that she grew up on a farm and showed cows all over the midwest. She loves teaching because of the kids and the moments when you see the kids excited about something that you are teaching or an opportunity you are helping provide for them!

Weekly Sunshine Surprises with our Sunshine Cart at HMS
Each week we are choosing 2-3 staff members to honor for all of their hard work they are doing this year! The teachers get to choose a couple of items from our Sunshine cart as a thank you for all that they do each day! A big shout out to the Highland PTO for providing the funds to make this happen! We truly appreciate it!
Mrs. Dena Geiger, our wonderful Math teacher on team 6 Black, has been teaching for 20 years. She enjoys hobbies that involve building, creating, and design work in all mediums including woodworking, sewing, crocheting, painting, welding, etc. She loves farming, livestock, and gardening, also. Mrs. Geiger’s favorite food is meat lover pizza with alfredo sauce and favorite candy is Reese’s peanut butter cups. Something unique about Mrs. Geiger is that she can drive Tandem trucks and Tractors on her farm. What she likes most about teaching is talking with the kids every day. Congratulations Mrs. Geiger for spreading some sunshine in our world!
