First graders at AP have been studying the first Thanksgiving for the past two weeks. Today they had a Thanksgiving feast. The students also rotated through stations that consisted of tasting food, mapping the voyage, carving soap boats, rag dolls, clay pots, headdresses, and story telling of the Native Americans. 🧡

We have collected 26 pounds of plastic bags for the month of November. Thank you! Please continue to send in your plastic bags and other bendable plastic for our plastic recycling contest!
Alhambra Primary students learned about the pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving this morning. The students really enjoyed listening about the journey on the Mayflower and the challenges the Pilgrims faced during their first year.

Alhambra Primary enjoyed a beautiful performance by the HHS Madrigal singers! We all enjoyed their performance!

Mrs. Grotefendt won a contest and received a classroom set of Math Stackers for both kindergarten classes. These blocks provide a hands on way of learning solid number sense. Both the teacher and kids are excited to begin using them!

The kindergarten class recently completed their Shapes module in math. For a hands-on ending activity, the students created flat and solid shapes using toothpicks,
marshmallows, and candy corn. They may or may not have eaten a few of their building
materials :)

Mrs. Paul’s 2nd grade students developed a sense of wonder for biodiversity in science. Students gained practical experience in identifying animals and sorting them into scientific groups. They applied their knowledge in an engineering design challenge making bird feeders!

1st graders have been studying how animals have adapted to camouflage. This helps animals both hide and hunt. We decided that turkeys in the woods
would need to hide from hunters so they would not be eaten on Thanksgiving!

The AP Pre-K classroom is hard at work collecting, sorting, and weighing plastic lids and caps in hopes of getting a Buddy Bench for their playground. So far they have collected 25 lbs of plastic lids and caps. Lids/caps can be dropped off to their classroom now through February!

The 2nd Graders at Alhambra Primary planted a Tulip Test Garden. Our students learned about how tulips grow best and found the perfect spot for planting. We will be comparing our results with different schools around the United States!

Alhambra Primary is participating in a Trex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge! The more recycling we collect, the better our chances are at winning a Trex bench! We will recycle items such as grocery bags, bread bags, Ziplocs, and more. Please send in your bendable plastic!
