Students are able to leave school at 11:22 am after 5th hour or they can stay for study hall or tutoring. Students can wait for their bus and lunch at 12:35 pm while social distancing if needed.

Sometimes it’s the things you can’t see that make a big difference! Gelly Construction has installed drainage tiles on the varsity softball field. Next week earth work will be completed and sprinklers will be installed. Seeding is last. By spring, our field will be ready!

Thanks to our HHS Office Staff and School Nurse for an amazing job the last 5 weeks. They’re handling attendance, phone calls, quarantines, remote learners, and many other things. We appreciate them so much. Thanks for showing them support, empathy, and kindness too.



Mr. Kirk Essenpreis, a member of our Facilities Team, continues to work hard to keeping the building clean and safe.


Students in Mrs. Stirewalt’s Job Skills class learn about the importance of soft skills while at work. They also conduct a critical thinking activity after their discussion.




Students in Mr. Durbin’s Principles of Engineering class learn about simple machines and pulleys. They extend the activity by watching a Khan Academy video and view a slides presentation.




Students in Mrs. Hall’s Health class talk about stress and how to overcome it with a variety of strategies


Mr. Elledge and Driver Education students talk about key points when crossing intersections and using proper stop time.




Our girls tennis team defeated Collinsville 9-0 tonight. Well done ladies! ❤️🎾🖤



JV Boys Golf finished second with a 154 behind Alton 152 but beat Belleville West 157. Logan Oestringer and Easton Belford shot 37 followed by Mason Emig (39) and Abe Hawkins (41).

Please see the following health and medical reminders from HHS School Nurse, Natalie Propst regarding required school physicals and immunizations. The deadline for all required health information is Thursday, October 15, 2020. Students who do not have the required information will be excluded from school per ISBE and the State of Illinois. Both In-Person and Remote Learners are required to submit health documents.

Dear HHS Parents & Guardians,
If you have a student out on quarantine related to COVID-19, please be sure that the student does not return to school until the letter of release from the Madison County Health Department is received by HHS office staff or Nurse, Natalie Propst. Email release letters to jjansen@highlandcusd5.org or npropst@highlandcusd5.org. A student can also bring the letter to the HHS Office upon arrival to school.
