The 8th grade Bulldog basketball team gets a 40-35 win over Alton tonight in a tough semi-final game in the IESA Regional and advances to the championship game on Friday at 4:30 pm. The Bulldogs will face arch rival Triad with a shot to advance to the IESA Sectional. Go Dawgs!
The 7th grade Lady Bulldogs volleyball team gets a two set win at Columbia tonight. Way to go ladies!
Due to 8th grade night at the High School and weather we are canceling the color guard open gym for tonight, January 28th.

This week, Mrs. Taylor's language arts students are developing their argumentative writing skills through hands-on research regarding the integration of plastic in our society. Through their research, the students will generate their own argumentative writing piece to discuss the impacts and possible solutions for plastics in our world today.
Open gym for Color Guard. This is for anyone 6th grade to 12th grade.

Highland CUSD No. 5,
It is unusual to send anything out when school will be in session, as it will be for tomorrow, but I wanted to thank our township road folks and district personnel who worked crazy hard over the past couple of days to make it possible to return to school. While roads and walkways are not perfect, we can get kids to and from school safely with everyone’s cooperation. Please be safe, as we will be asking our bus drivers to slow down and make sure stops are safe for everyone. I have had numerous conversations with our bus company and building officials to ensure that our buses are ready to go and our campuses are ready for parents and students.
If you prefer to keep your student home, we respect your decision as a parent, and the absence will be excused. If you choose to drive your student to school, please know that tardies will be excused if due to traffic or delays. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to safely return students to school tomorrow.
