6 Black students have been creating Valentine's day cards for Highland care centers.

Parents: Don't forget, if you ordered a candy gram for your student, today is the last day to pay for them. We will be in the office to collect money from 8a-12p & 1-3p. Thank you!

Tryout times for HMS boys basketball have changed for 6th, 7th & 8th grade. 6th grade will be 5:15 - 6:30 pm. 7th & 8th grade will be 6:30 - 8:00 pm. This change will be for both tryout days on 2/4 & 2/5.

Today our region was moved to phase 4 so our middle school athletics now can have full practices and play games. All game schedules are updated on the school athletic website. As of right now our conference is not allowing fans because the schools in the conference do not have the proper space to allow fans. Each school is working on a way to stream games live for the parents. We are also looking at other alternatives to where fans can come watch games. Please be patient as we are doing all we can to make this happen for the kids to play and let the parents watch games.
Again, there will likely be more changes as we go forward. Please be assured that we will do what we can to allow students to have the best possible experiences while keeping them as safe as possible.

More Team 8 Red High Honor Roll and Honor Roll recipients. Congratulations and keep up the good work!!!

Though the pandemic has affected many things, Highland choral students still keep singing. As they say, “The show must go on.” To help support the efforts of the students and directors, the Highland Choral Parents Association will be hosting a socially distanced fundraiser, the Big Cinn Cinnafun event. Supporters can order cinnamon rolls from Chris Cakes in St. Louis. The online store is open now at https://chriscakesstl-hihsc.itemorder.com/sale . Orders will be available for drive-through pick up at HHS from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 13. One hundred percent of all cash donations, Extra Dough on the online store, will go directly to the choral students.

Tuesday, February 2nd is Team 7 Black's turn to purchase candy grams during advisory and ELP. Don't forget your money. Thanks!

Special Education teacher, Ms. Shelly King, has been in education for most of her life. In her spare time she loves camping, hiking, gardening, travel, history, politics, yoga, poetry, swimming, home decorating, and spending time with family and friends. Some of her favorites include dark chocolate with nuts, fresh pineapple, rhubarb pie, and ice cold Coke. One thing you may not know is Ms. King is a published poet. Ms. King says the best thing about teaching is helping her students develop an intrinsic joy in the process of learning. Thanks for the love and care you give our students at HMS.

Mr. Chris Hartlieb, 8 Black American History, has been teaching for 30 years. He enjoys travel, movies, binge-watching a good show, and being at home with nothing to do. Some of his favorites include Italian and Mexican food along with Twix and plain Hershey’s chocolate for a sweet treat. You may not know this about Mr. Hartlieb, but he loves singing along with musicals. What he enjoys most about HMS is now and forever, working with great people, both kids and adults. Thanks so much for all that you do for our students, Mr. Hartlieb!

Mrs. Abbott, 6 Red ELA, has been teaching for 14 years. When she has spare time she enjoys renovating a 100 year old house along with gardening. As a tea connoisseur, her favorites include British Tetley tea, Yorkshire Gold tea, and Builders Grade tea.
