Mrs. Ruth Olliges has been in education for 6 years working as an assistant. She enjoys camping, hiking, and going on trips with her family, going to the movies, and hanging out with friends. Some of her favorite foods are Chicken Fettuccine and Twix candy bars. One thing you may not know about Mrs. Olliges is that she played the flute and piano while growing up. She loves being around the students and enjoys helping them with cool projects the teachers set up. It's fun watching them get excited working on their projects. It makes her smile. Thanks so much Mrs. Olliges for going the extra mile to support our kids.

Ms. Jessica Schrage, our Team 6 Red Science teacher, has been in education now for 5 years. In her spare time she enjoys reading and boxing for fitness. If you want to surprise her with a sweet treat, Skittles, Whoppers, and Heath are her favorites! One thing you may not know is that Ms. Schrage coaches a boxing class at Alphas. According to Ms. Schrage, she likes getting to do labs with all of her kiddos. She also likes to see them get excited about science. Her goal is to make her class not feel "like school." She wants the class period to zoom by so fast, because the kids were all having fun. Thanks for working hard to help our kids see the fun in science.

Mrs. Deb Johnson, Special Education Teacher on 8 Red, has been in education for over 22 year. In her spare time she love spending time with her grandkids. Her favorite sweet treat are Hersey Bars. Thank you Mrs. Johnson for all that you do to help our kids grow!

HMS Parents,
The SIJHSAA, which is the athletic association that Highland Middle School belongs to, held a special meeting Thursday, mainly dealing with the girls and boys basketball situation. As you all know the IDPH has moved basketball to a higher risk sport in the Governor's All Sports Policy. This change by the IDPH will not enable schools to participate in this sport at the present time. The Governor has stated that basketball isn't canceled - it's postponed. Thus, at this point girls and boys basketball practices set to start on November 16 and contests to start on Nov. 30 are presently postponed. This also means that we have to cancel boys and girls open gyms. As usual, this situation is out of our control, and we are saddened by it as well. When we have more information we will pass it along! Thank you for understanding and being flexible as we navigate this journey.

ATTENTION: Boys basketball open gym has been cancelled for tonight, Thursday, November 5. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you!
