Please see the link below for information on the Highland Primary Open House scheduled for January 22 and 23. Due to the excitement of the new school, we added a second night, as we expect a large crowd in attendance and tight parking.

Finally, opening a new building is no easy task and, as expected, has brought its share of challenges. But throughout it all, our students, staff, parents, and community stay positive and problem-solve any adversity that comes our way. This is a phenomenal accomplishment for Highland CUSD #5 and our community, and we thank you for your continued support. When an organization builds capacity as a team, great things happen.

Highland CUSD 5: Highland CUSD No. 5 Parents and Staff,
Due to the timing of the winter storm advisory in effect for tomorrow morning and throughout the day, Highland CUSD No. 5 will not be in session tomorrow, Friday, January 10. It was a challenging week with weather and the opening of a new school, but we knew what we had after the previous winter storm. The forecast presents an unknown for tomorrow and we will be cautious given the circumstances. I feel it is important to make the call as early as possible to allow parents to make arrangements if necessary. Enjoy your weekend and hope to have a 5-day week next week!
Educationally Yours,
Michael S. Sutton, Superintendent

Good Afternoon, Highland CUSD #5 Students and Families,
We are excited to welcome back students and staff on Wednesday, January 8, for the start of semester II. Highland teachers and staff participated in a Teacher Institute on Tuesday, and we fully expect to be in session on Wednesday morning. Currently, school parking lots and walkways are primarily clear across the district thanks to the efforts of our facilities team. Colder temperatures are expected tonight, and refreezing may present some slick areas tomorrow morning. Please use caution when walking, driving to school, and navigating our parking lots. Finally, the updated Highland CUSD #5 School Schedule begins tomorrow, so please plan accordingly regarding these changes.

Dress warmly, travel safely, and have a great start to the semester. We appreciate your continued support of Highland CUSD #5.
Educationally Yours,
Dr. Chris A. Becker
Assistant Superintendent

Greetings, Highland CUSD No. 5 Parents and Staff, I want to be definitive on the schedule for this week, but what I can communicate at this time without hesitation is that the Teacher's Institute scheduled for today was canceled and is scheduled for tomorrow (January 7, 2025). This means that the students will return to school on Wednesday, January 8. Our facilities team is hard at work to clear drives and walkways for tomorrow (Teacher's Institute). We anticipate some refreezing so please be careful to and from school and around the buildings and parking lots. Good luck digging out today and be careful!

It may be a great surprise, but the Teacher's Institute for tomorrow, Monday, January 6, will be postponed to Tuesday, January 7. Unless further notified, students will return to school on Wednesday, January 8th. Thanks, and enjoy the snow!
Superintendent, Mike Sutton

Highland Primary had a great Pep Assembly today featuring the Highland High School band, cheerleaders, flags, dance team, and athletic counsel. We sang our school fight song and saw the HHS students perform. It was super fun and exciting!

We welcomed 627 grandparents and special friends to our Grandparents' Sing Along over the past two days! The smiles and singing were abundant! Thank you for sharing this special day with us!

Thank You Highland Optimist Club!
